PREVIOUS NOTICES:

Term 1 Week 11 2016:

General Notices:
  • Well, well, it is the last week of term! This brings with it the excitement of a much needed break and rest for all and a wee touch of sadness with it being Sarah J's final week at Saint Paul's after 12 years!
  • It was great to be able to announce Jane Howley as the teacher who will be taking Sarah J's place next term.  She is very experienced with the age level and the children have already been able to meet her as she has relieved in our class a couple of times already this term.  She will be in the class on Tuesday afternoon to relieve for Sarah J while she visits Ranzau School.  Feel free to come and introduce yourself to Jane at the end of the day.  It is great that she can spend some time with the children before the holidays so that they will be ready for next term :)

  • We will continue with sending home little readers this week and would like to just ask that you have a little look round home and send in any that you have lying around.  It is also important that over the two week break that children are revisiting their sound or word cards and doing some reading of there own.  It's amazing the progress they have made so far this term and we would like to see this momentum continue through the break.
  • We are looking for some parents to tape and stamp a box full of new readers that we have.  If you are interested in helping with this job then talk to Sarah J.

Friday First thing we have the Life Education Tuck again.  This was lots of fun last week and we are using the little booklets that the children received as part of our Theme focus this week.  Keep an eye out for these on Friday as we will send them home so the children can share what we have been talking about.
        -  We have Fundamental Skills (P.E) our focus at the moment is BALANCE.

        Term 1 Week 4 2016:

        General Notices:
        • Two important 'paper notices' went out last week and were put in your child's book bag so please make sure you have located them and read them. One was a yellow notice about our school gala and the other was a white notice regarding contact information.  If you cannot locate these then please let us know and we will send home another copy.
        • Coming up next week we have our school swimming sports.  These are held at Nayland pools from 9:30 till 12pm on Wednesday.  We will send out more information about this during the week.
        • Also coming up next week we have the Life Education Bus at our school so the children will attend a couple of sessions about 'Self esteem and Social Relationships' which will tie in with our Curious about Us theme for this term.
Monday - Whole School Shared Prayer

Tuesday - For the first block of the day we have CRT.  CRT stands for Classroom Release Time.  This is given to all full time teachers by the Ministry of Education for 'Educational Purposes'.  Usually we are still somewhere in the school, but occasionally we may be visiting other schools or attending meetings off site.  So that the students get quality learning during this time we have John Phillips who takes our students for music during our CRT slots.

        - Library Day: Books borrowed by the children are on issue for 2 weeks so your child does not have to bring their books back this week but they will need to if they want to get new books to take home.

Wednesday Welcome Powhiri: 9:45am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, William Street, Richmond.  This is for all our new students and parents. You are welcome to come along and support our new families and children. We have a number of children in our class being welcomed.  We will be leaving school at 9:15ish and will return by 10:30ish.  Please make sure that your child is dressed in full school uniform and have their school hat. If it is looking like rain then please include a raincoat in their bag.

        General Notices:
        • SWIMMING WEEK! If you did not get the email from us last week with the information about swimming please let us know. Here is the main information again: For the week we are allowing students to wear their correct PE shorts and t-shirt to school to make changing for them easier. They will not need their school uniform. You are welcome to dress your child in their togs with their PE gear overtop to come to school in, but please remember to put their underwear in their swimming bag.
Please make sure your child has:
          - their togs/underwear, towel and goggles (if they use them) in a separate bag that is easy for your child to walk with.
          - ALL items named clearly
          - a small container with a snack in it for taking to the pool (it would be helpful if this was placed in their swimming bag ready to go, not in their lunchbox).
          - extra food for lunch as they get very hungry after swimming.
        • As part of reviewing our communication we are checking that everyone is receiving via email the school newletter.  This is sent out to you in the form of a link to our Hail newsletter website. Please let us know if you are not receiving this or if you have additional email addresses that you would like this to be sent to.

        General Notices:
        • Welcome to week 2! The weather has been so hot to start our year back at school! Just a reminder to make sure your child has sunscreen on before they arrive at school and we are happy to reapply this at lunch time.
        • We had an enjoyable week last week just getting to know each other and learning how our learning spaces operate.  This week you will see the introductions of our typical literacy and numeracy programme however again it will take the week to set up the routines around this with the children.  You can expect to see some books that your child has read before (if your child was with us last term) coming home this week as we introduce home readers.
        • Next week is swimming so we will send you a little more information about this during the week.  Our swimming time is 9:30-10am which means we will leave school at 9am to walk to the pool and return by 10:30ish.  If you are able to help us walk the children and get them changed then let us know via email or fill in your name on the chart on our 'Noticeboard'.

        Term 1 Week 1 2016:

        General Notices:
        • There are always a lot of things to remember with the start of the school year so here are a few things to check off of your to do list and a few things to know about :)
        • School begins at 8:50am on Wednesday 3rd February.
        • Ensure all your child's uniform, hat, shoes, sports gear etc is clearly labeled (we have so much lost property that could be returned to its owner if only it was named!)
        • Those who already started school last year will not need a new stationery pack however there will be a couple extra books that we need as some of the books have changed. You don't need to do anything about this as we will organise the specific books your child needs and add it to your school account. Those starting school for the first time will need to collect their 'Year0/1 Stationery Box' from OPD in Richmond. This contains all the books and other items your child needs.
